Notes from the Kitchen / Project delivery

Why good digital projects still lose momentum.

A strong team and a good platform do not guarantee a project will keep moving. Often the friction is in the work between teams.

Decisions need an owner.

A task can look active while everyone waits for someone else to choose a direction. Put decisions alongside tasks: what needs to be decided, by whom and by when.

Dependencies need to be visible.

Design, development, content, data and operations rarely progress independently. Track the handoffs that affect the next team, and surface delays before they become surprises.

A status meeting should change something.

A useful check-in ends with clear actions, owners and decisions. If the same obstacle appears every week, change the escalation or the plan instead of simply repeating the update.

Make progress easy to recognise.

Agree what “done” means. A shared definition of acceptance makes small delivery steps visible and gives everyone a more reliable view of launch readiness.
